Girly Whirls
Here are a few photos I shot on a cheap, old, plastic automatic camera I found at a thrift store, you know, the kind that every mom had in the 90s. One of my jobs this summer is babysitting my two neighbors, Olivia and Lyra. I brought the camera with me one day while I was hanging out with them and shot a roll.

Summertime and the living's easy
I'm back in Chapel Hill for the summer! I've been searching for, and finally securing a few part-time jobs to keep me busy. When I make time though I get in some shooting, and recently, some painting. I'll post a few photos I've taken recently as well as what I am now deeming "Album Paintings." For the latter, I choose an album (an especially moody one does the trick) and during the time it takes to play through the entire album, I do a painting in response to the music. This could be an emotional response such as choosing cooler colors for darker, more emotional sections of songs, a physical response such as very rushed strokes for faster songs, or a response that I can't explain. I try not to think too seriously while I'm doing it so as to display the exact reactions I have to songs as they play and to not let random thoughts become entangled in the pure response. I hope that makes sense.
Anyway, I've done a couple recently that I'll post here. I will title them the Album title so the first is called "The Crying Light," by Antony and the Johnsons and the second is "OK Computer" by Radiohead. Apologies for the yellow wall and section of wood, I had to photograph them on the porch for the best light.
As for photographs, here are a few recent shots. The first two are from the official release of our grown up chicks into the big, outside world (as opposed to the bathtub they had been confined to for the first stage of their chickie lives). The next three are of a beautiful Luna Moth I found hanging on the fence around our garden. The final three are from Richmond actually. My friend offered to skateboard while I photographed him. I had never photographed skateboarding before so I thought I would give it a shot (literally).

So there you go! Beginning of summer post. I hope to produce work over the summer. If I do, you'll be hearing from me. :)
