Femme (when all else fails, say the word in another language for creativity points!)

I have a journal that I write and sketch in often. The other day I was trying to draw a silhouette of the female figure and found it very difficult. I kept getting these super strange figures that looked like ghosts or pillsbury dough boys or something. When I thought about why it was so difficult for me to draw, I realized that perhaps it was because the female form is generally reduced to a circle, a triangle, and a few rectangles--like in a restroom sign. No wonder it was so foreign.
I don't think this is a strong piece by any means. It is really just a reflection of an idea I was trying to focus on during my 3-hour drawing class. Sometimes I like to see what comes of a long period working on an abstract piece. I try and challenge myself to not stop moving my hands around the page. There is a cool moment once I get into the zone when my hand moves before my brain knows where its going..if that's possible.

  1. You know it's possible. "May the force be with you."
